A leeches tail can have multiple uses, but most commonly they are used either for swimming or storing fat.
1. Tail traits can be mixed and matched as long as the basic premise remains. (For example an imp tail with split ends, a basic tail can be as long as the leech itself)
2. A leech can only have 1 tail.
Trait lore
Basic - The original flavor leech tail! It works great at either storing fat or paddling through the water.
Tadpole – Most common on water dwelling leeches, this tail is usually a temporary tadpole stage thing, but if it’s useful then it keeps growing alongside the leech.
Nub - A short nub tail. Its usefulness as a leech tail is questionable, so leeches with this trait usually have a fatter neck to make up for it.
Bulb - A large short tail, shaped like an orb. Very common on pets and livestock leeches.
Thin - A long thin tail, resembling a cat's tail. This trait is most common on mount class to allow for an easier and faster travel.
Brush - A thin wide feeler that's easily cut and torn. This tail makes it easier for ambush hunter leeches to stay afloat and still above the water.
Finned - A tail specialized for leeches that spend most of their time/hunts in the water. There is a wide variety of fins out there.
Curled - Curled is actually a bigger basic tail, but leeches with this trait keep their tails curled to avoid smacking it into objects (and people).
Split ends - A small genetic mishap that sometimes occurs whenever a leech starts growing its tail, two tails grow in place of one which leads to a double tip. These tips don’t function separately though, the function in unison is one tail.
Scorpion – A bulky tail with a sharp stinger, but it doesn't pack venom. Scorpion tails that have venom (Myth) range from a venom that is only as potent as a bee sting, to venom that destroys tissue in seconds. These tails are flexible and dexterous.
Grub - A fat, ribbed tail, which serves the purpose of storing fat and nutrients. Leeches with the grub trait can drop their tail, but when it regrows it never looks the same; it turns into another trait on this list- Tanuki.
Imp - A tadpole tail that never grew to its full size. Leeches with this trait are often on the smaller side, and have a more juvenile and playful personality.
Floppy - Another basic tail but held in a different form. Just like curled, leeches hold their tail like this to avoid collateral damage.
Tentacle - A long, flexible tail with suckers underneath it. Leeches often use this handy trait to capture and hold prey, or reach high places and grab what they want but their owner won’t give them.
Tanuki - Long and thick, tanuki is a trait that's exhibited by grub tailed leeches that dropped their tail. It’s said that touching this tail will bring you money and fertility; these leeches misfortune is considered an omen of luck, ironically.
Chicken -A cluster of drape feelers in the shape of a chicken's tail. It’s popular among pet class and mount class for the cute "fluffy looking butt" factor.
Mock spider - A bulb tail with two spikes protruding from its tip. Leeches with this trait are often stealth hunters; the short tail doesn't drag on the ground and stores nutrients.
Shrimp (Myth) - A fat tail with a finned tip. Leeches that are attached to this tail are often pampered and spoiled, the tail got so big because of the amount they feed. Leeches with thinner shrimp tails can use it swim, but in its enlarged state it acts as a buoy and wont let the leech submerge.
Rattle (Myth) - A scaled tail with a rattle at the tip of it. Leeches rattle this tail to possibly scare off attackers, but every individual with this trait has a distinct rhythm to them.
Honey pot (Myth) - A huge tail filled with liquid. The liquid color varies, for example: It may be blood that's stored for future consumption, or a sweet smelling liquid the leech utilizes to attract prey.
