Ears are actually usually non-functional, they are shaped feelers that are soft to the touch and can be bent.
1. Ears are an optional trait!
1. Ears are an optional trait!
2. Ear traits can be mixed and matched, as well as slightly customized as long as the basic trait premise stays. (For example, using the bun trait as straight up ears instead of lop)
3. You can use up to 3 pairs. (6 ears)
Trait lore
*Feelers - feeler ears can be any length and width, this trait is most common on mount and wild class. Used for camouflage and scoping the environment. (Weather changes, Temperature changes, Vibrations, Tight spaces, Warm blood...) Feeler ears are based on the feeler traits (which will get a trait sheet of their own soon too)
Cub – Round, soft ears. More commonly bred on pet class leeches, in the wild this trait is used to camouflage along prey animals. Can be any size and vary in shapes.
Triangle - Much like Cub, which it is arguably a variant of, it’s most commonly bred on pet class leeches and mimics other animals.
Bun - Round, long feelers that occur most commonly in pets and wild class. Leeches like to chew on their own or eachothers long ears to relieve stress.
Axolotl - these ears are incredible at picking up sound and vibrations in water, but they are just as incredibly fragile. Thankfully, they can be regrown in a couple weeks time.
Star tip - not to be confused with hand ears, which fall under extra limbs (Mythical). These ears end in 5 tips and can be any length.
Zipper ears - a companion trait to the tailmouth hoodie, the zipper can be opened to reveal a pair of real ears underneath. This trait can’t be customized, only the ears inside it can be.
Antenna - these feelers are incredibly dexterous and are most commonly found on wild class and saltwaters. They enhance the signals *feelers already normally pick up, which makes these leeches very potent trackers.
Dobby - These ears are perhaps the only ones on the list that actually function as ears. They pick up sound, therefore leeches that have this trait rely on hearing more than they do on sound vibration.
False wings – Wide, thin feelers with kinks. They are not made of feathers and are meant to make the head look like a bird, while the body of the leech is obscured behind a bush or underwater. Most common on wild and mount.
Brush ears - A companion trait to brush tail. These feelers are thin and wide, they are so thin that they are easily torn and cut.
Moth(Myth) - Highly sensitive, they function the same as axolotl but they're made of soft feathery material. This trait is considered highly luxurious because of its rarity.
Many ears (Myth) - A mutation that causes a leech to grow more than 3 pairs of ears... These leeches are typically hypersensitive to their environment which causes them to be skittish and stressed. This trait falls under extra limbs.
Hand ears (Myth) - Less of an ear trait, and more of an extra limb trait that sprouted from the head. A leeche's control of these hands varies, but it gets weaker the longer these ears are (arms). Its hypothesized some creatures and monsters in folklore are based off sightings of leeches with this trait.
